Make History As A Member
The New Paltz Patentees, driven by religious persecution from their native France, and exiles for conscience’s sake, came to America after a sojourn in the Rhine Palatinate near Mannheim, Germany. They established homes here on the banks of the Wallkill River, settled the land purchased from the Native Indians and were a granted by Patent issued by Governor Edmond Andros on 29 September 1677, and nobly bore their part in the creation of a free government. They came for the opportunity to seek a better life.
Twelve men represented seven families: Louis Bevier, Antoine Crispell, Christian Deyo, Pierre Deyo, Louis DuBois, Abraham DuBois, Isaac DuBois, Hugo Freer, Abraham Hasbrouck, Jean Hasbrouck, Andre LeFevre, and Simon LeFevre.
On our 10-acre National Historic Landmark District, visitors experience over 300 years of history across seven historic stone-house museums, a reconstructed 1717 French Church, the Huguenot community’s original burying ground, and a replica Esopus Munsee wigwam, among one of the oldest streets in America, here on Huguenot Street, New Paltz, NY.
We need to be vigilant when it comes to our history. Talk to elderly family members - asking questions about their history. Once they are gone, it’s too late.

Membership
Membership in the Deyo Family Association is open to all Deyo descendants and others who wish to support the purposes of the Association. All dues and donations to the Association are used to support the Deyo House and the Huguenot Historical Society.
